LED lights are a great choice for your home because they are durable and energy efficient. However, improper connection of the device to the household electrical network can shorten its service life and lead to its failure. Therefore, we insist that any electrical installation work should be performed by a qualified electrician!
There are several aspects that you should pay attention to before installing the device in its place.
1. Installing the lamp
When installing the LED lamp, you should use factory mounting holes and fasteners that are designed and manufactured taking into account the technical features of the device. This will ensure safe operation and maintenance.
Do not drill into the device case! This may damage the internal components and electrical circuits of the device!
2. Wall switch
Any lighting device must be connected to the household electrical network with cables of the appropriate cross-section to the rated power of the connected devices. The wall switch, in turn, must be mounted in such a way as to disconnect the phase (L) power supply cable.

If the switch is connected to the “neutral” (N) cable, then in the event of its switching off, the appliance will continue to receive power from the mains, bypassing the switch via the phase cable. This can lead to the appearance of a “phantom” light in the appliance after the switch is switched off, as well as failure of the internal components of the appliance due to the lack of protection of the household electrical network against voltage surges.
We will tell you about the “phantom light” in the short video below.
3. Power grid
Given the difficult technical condition of the national power grid, we strongly recommend installing an automatic voltage protection relay (such as “Zubr”) on your local household network. This will protect your household appliances, in particular LED lamps, from unwanted voltage drops that go beyond the operating range of the device drivers.
Note that each LED device has a voltage control driver, which, depending on the model, can “equalize” the voltage drop in the range from 165 to 265V, protecting the internal components of the device. But often voltage drops occur in the network that exceed the capabilities of the device driver, which causes it to fail. This can lead to burnout of LEDs and other components of the lamp.
Therefore, we emphasize that a voltage protection relay should be installed in your home and regulate the electricity supply, activating protection when critical indicators are reached (man 200V, max 250V).
210-240V 50-60Hz is a safe range of mains voltage at which normal standard operation of lighting devices of various types is guaranteed.
