How to save on electricity
Paying for utilities is an important part of the family budget. And a considerable part of it is taken up by electricity. After all, the main household appliances and lighting of the entire house are tied to it.
The issue of saving electricity is especially relevant today due to the increase in tariffs. One of the main ways to reduce costs is to install LED lighting throughout the house.
Why not everyone uses LED lamps
Most of us are used to installing ordinary light bulbs. What attracts them most is their affordable price (about 10-12 UAH). In contrast, the price tag for LED lamps starts on average from 30 UAH. However, if you make simple calculations and compare the performance of 2 lamps, the savings will be more than obvious.
It is worth noting that LED lamps can have both cold and warm light. Old-style lamps can boast only the latter option. Modern manufacturers already produce LED lamps with a base of any size. Therefore, they are suitable for any lighting source.
Differences between incandescent lamps and LED lighting
We compared two popular types of lighting according to 3 parameters:
1. Service life. A conventional lamp lasts on average about 1000 hours. With average consumption, it will have to be replaced at least twice a year. LED can shine for 50,000 hours. This volume is enough for at least 5 years of use.
2. Quality. Today, incandescent lamps can be sold in any store, even without special packaging, simply wrapped in cardboard. It often happens that they work even less than the stated period. As for LED lamps, there must be proper packaging, a guarantee and compliance with quality standards.
3. Power. For example, 12 W LED lamps correspond to the characteristics of 100 W incandescent lamps. One lamp "burns" about 2000 hours a year, that is, more than 5 hours a day. If we multiply the W indicators by the number of hours, we get 24 kW / h (LED lamp) and 200 kW / h (standard lamp). More than indicative figures.
It is obvious that the purchase of LED lamps for the entire apartment or house will pay off in less than a year. This is a profitable investment that will bring you significant savings.

General useful tips for saving electricity:
- Rational use of household appliances. If you do not need them at the moment, do not leave them plugged in. In the "standby" mode, devices can use up extra kilowatts. When buying new equipment, pay attention to the fact that it has an energy consumption class of A or A+.
- Dual-zone meter. It has two tariffs: day and night. And the latter is several times smaller than the first. Such a meter will help reduce electricity costs.
- Wipe dust from light bulbs. Dust particles often settle on light sources. And since they are not at eye level, we often forget about them during cleaning. A clean light bulb will brightly illuminate the entire room.
- Spot light. It is much more economical to use local lighting options (wall lamp, floor lamp) in the place in the room where you are sitting. You should not turn on the main lamps unnecessarily.
All of the above proves that saving electricity is about following simple rules on a regular basis. Then your bills will surprise you with small numbers.
